Gap Pad is a low-modulus polymer material used as an interface between heat sinks and electronic devices. In smaller products where it is not possible to install a cooling fan, Gap Pad solves problems associated with uneven topographies, air gaps and rough surface textures. It also provides low-stress vibration dampening and shock absorption, and improved puncture and tear resistance.
Each electronic device has different requirements, and Bergquist manufactures a range of products to suit these diverse needs. Gap Pad is available with or without an adhesive backing, or with an optional rubber-coated fiberglass reinforcement. Its available thicknesses range from 0.010″ to 0.250″. As well, a silicone-free version is offered in thicknesses between 0.010″ and 0.125″.
